Langhe DOC Nebbiolo
Langhe DOC Nebbiolo
The town of Dogliani abbuts the south west corner of Barolo so there is some Nebbiolo planted here. Because it is not within the boundry of Barolo it is not permitted to use it’s denomination. Instead Langhe Nebbiolo DOC is permitted and used at Caraglio. This 100% Nebbiolo is hand harvested and is sourced from the middle band of the Surimatain vineyard.
Produced the same way as most Barolo with large inert vessels for 3 years of maturation. This wine screams Nebbiolo and is perfumed with rose and basil aromas. There is a hint of licorice and savory notes on the palate. The typical high alcohol, tannin and acid combo of Nebbiolo is well handled and just a quick splash in a decanter is all that is needed to enjoy this wine.
Dense full bodied red with red raspberry and blue fruit aromas on the nose. The acid and alcohol are well balanced with long ripe tannins. This is definitely a food wine.
