Sorpasso is named for the movie filmed in the 60s which confirmed the uniquely beautiful seaside gem Castiglioncello as the haunt of famous actors. Some scenes were shot on the portion of the Aurelian Way that runs by the vineyard. Our Sorpasso is dedicated to the meeting of our soils and the Italian cinema.
Sorpasso is a red wine made from carefully selcted grapes from the most favored parcels of our vineyard. When the grapes reach optimal maturity, they are picked by hand and subjected to fermentation and slow maceration to extract the more noble tannins and the varietal aromas.
After the racking off, the wine is aged in small French oak barrels for about 14/16 months. This is followed by bottle aging for at least 12 months to enhance its quality and its structure.
Sorpasso is a wine that has an intense aroma of red fruit, aromatic herbs and spicy notes. It is rich on the palate, with enveloping and elegant tannins and a good balance of taste and aroma.
