Collection: Le Filigare

Le Filigare

e Filigare is the name of the hill where the estate is located, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, between Siena and Florence. The property includes two villages: Le Filigare located in the municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle and Le Macine in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti. The main village Le Filigare dates back to the 11th century and was known in the area as Fiaccole di Sopra. The name comes from a slang term meaning "upper torch". A long time ago, during the commemoration of the Patron Saint, the village, located on a dominant position, was used to be lit with fire torches and the inhabitants of the area gathered here to celebrate. Our house was already an accommodation facility even then, exclusive names sailed in their list of important clients: Pope Pius IX spent his vacation at Le Filigare invited by the Grand Duke Leopold of Tuscany himself.

to savor the delicious wines and food, and, to relax in this beautiful setting. Since the 1980s, the estate has belonged to the Cassetti Burchi family, well-known silversmiths and jewelers from Florence. Carlo Burchi, for about thirty years, has dedicated himself to the restructuring of buildings and the recovery of much land that has been lost. With care and dedication, he has created a company of great prestige and quality, known throughout the world for the quality of its products. Currently the son Alessandro is at the helm, who continues the tradition, supported by his wife Deborah and his younger son Lorenzo. In 2016 the company adhered to quality criteria relating to health in respect and protection of the environment and sustainability by switching to organic production.
